"Valla", valley and "bri", little, could be the celtic origins of the noun of the village (F Mistral, "Dicton de la langue d'Oc)
But, there is also a latin origin : Vallis Brigia |

|
| |
The village is surrounded with ramparts (you can still find a few vestiges).
A fight between the Maures and Charles Martel took place in Vallabrix in 736.
To celebrate his victory, Charles Martel made build a chapel devoted to Sainte Victoire and Sainte Brune.
